With each holiday season, we rejoice with family and friends, and despite the many challenges of the year gone by, we always find it in us to look ahead to the coming year with optimism. We've crafted a detailed chronology of the events of this past year HERE, but I think the season calls for some higher-level reflection.
The year 2021 started off with such hope, with many assuming the worst of the pandemic was behind us. It wasn't long, though, before we realized that while much was changing, much more remained the same. Schools stayed closed through the spring in many places, and countless businesses remained shuttered well into the summer, with many never to open again.
Slowly, though, normalcy started to creep back into our lives - bit by bit. As vaccine rates increased, restaurants and stores began to open again, even if it was with restrictions. The fall saw the kids returning to school, and the borders begin to open to travel.
For the team at Keystroke, it was a long journey these past 20-months, but we celebrated many notable accomplishments in 2021 too.
In the early spring, we acquired all the add-ons from TopLine Results (Designer, Dash, and Alerts), and then two months later we acquired QsalesData from Effective Solutions. In the fall we made our final acquisition of the year with the purchase of all the add-ons from ASDS Computer Company. During the year we also released our own purpose-built API called K-API, an API specifically designed for add-ons, as well as Handheld Contact's first MAC OS client.
In the Act! world, 2021 saw the end of Act! Emarketing and the introduction of Act! Marketing Automation Basic, as well as the release of two new versions of Act!, namely Act! v23 in the spring and Act! v24 (the first 64-bit version) in the Fall.
As busy a year as it was, though, it’s important to remember the journey we’ve taken, because soon this year will give way to a new holiday season, and we’ll be reminded once again of what matters. That we’re still here, and there's plenty of fight left in us for what lies ahead.
So as we look to 2022, let’s raise our glasses and face it with pride and optimism, and celebrate a New Year filled with warmth, good health, comfort, and good cheer!

Most years the Keystroke holiday hours are divided between what is observed in Canada and the United States, but this year we're aligned. The Canadian staff all elected to take Christmas Eve off, and return to work on what would be Boxing Day on the 28th. As Americans don't observe Boxing Day, this means we'll all enjoy the same days off to celebrate the holidays with our families.
