With each holiday season we rejoice with family and friends, and despite the many challenges of the year gone by, we always find it in us to look ahead to the coming year with optimism.
January, 2020 started off no different, but by early March we knew it was, in fact, quite different. Trips were cancelled, schools were closed, many businesses shut down, and we quickly realized many changes needed to be made. We said goodbye to some, and hello to others, and our three full offices were quickly reduced to two near-empty ones.
It wasn’t easy, but we adjusted, and despite all the challenges and tragedies of the last 9-months, too many to list and too painful to repeat, Keystroke somehow grew stronger together as a team and a business.
I would smile each morning as the Montreal group would go through their morning roll call on Slack, and as all of us would poke fun at each other for gaffes, typos, or misguided football allegiances. Yet despite this frivolity, few birthdays went uncelebrated, customer testimonials rarely went unrecognized, and technical questions posted at any hour, even on weekends, seldom went unanswered.
It’s important to remember the journey we’ve all taken, because soon this year will give way to a new holiday season, and we’ll be reminded again of what matters. That we’re still here. And while we won’t be able to celebrate it together as we have in the past, our bonds won’t suffer for the distance.
So as we look ahead to 2021, let’s raise our glasses and face it with pride and hard earned optimism. 2020 took it’s best shots, but we’re still standing, and stronger for it, together.
Most years the Keystroke holiday hours are divided between what is observed in Canada and the United States, but this year we're aligned. The Canadian staff all elected to take Christmas Eve off, and return to work on what would be Boxing Day on the 28th. As Americans don't observe Boxing Day, this means we'll all enjoy the same days off celebrate the holidays with our families.
