It's been a few months in the making, but Keystroke is pleased to announce the release of a major update to Tables4act - the leading custom table solution for Act! users. Earlier in the year we surveyed all the Act! consultants worldwide to get their feedback on what fixes and features they'd like to see added to Tables4act, and we're grateful to report the feedback was fast & plentiful. Thanks to this, we're pleased to report the following update details below:

Bug fixes:

• Font settings for field labels not saving correctly. (Windows)
• Currency fields not showing the currency symbol when merging to MS Word or email
• Currency fields not accepting 0 as a value in the web
• Activity fields displaying as an ID in the list view
• Calculated fields not displaying correct values in list view (especially age fields)
• Records in the list view sometimes disappeared after a period of time of inactivity
• Currency fields not exporting to Excel correctly
• Currency and decimal fields not displaying more than 2 decimal points in list view even if the field supports it.

New Features:

• Tables4act no longer uses the problematic OLEDB Views for lists, using the standard SQL tables instead
• Font settings can now be set for field values as well as labels (Windows)
• Added report designer under Custom Tables > Reports. (Windows)
• Added Charting support which can be accessed by pressing the Chart button on the custom table view. (Windows)

Tables4act Desktop
A few years ago we released a perpetual license version of Tables4act called Tables4act Desktop. This version was licensed per activation and had no web support. The plan was to offer these two versions of Tables4act with opposing licensing methods to appeal to all markets. As it turns out, this plan proved to be short-sighted. With this new rewrite of Tables4act, we discovered that to maintain these two licensing models we'd be forced to maintain two separate code bases, which is not an option.

We weighed several options including implementing Maintenance & Support (M&S) that would limit the number of Act! versions the Desktop release could support, but that likely would make no one happy. We also didn't want to create a disincentive to upgrading Act!. 

The only viable course for us is to return Tables4act Desktop to a subscription product, which it had previously been for years, so that we could include these new updates. For those looking to get custom tables for a low one-time cost, we offer the following options:

• Tables4act-Desktop (Legacy). This is the version in market before the recent upgrade. It will not be updated, and will eventually be deprecated
• Designer: this version of custom tables has always been licensed as a perpetual product, and will be upgraded shortly with Designer v8.
