In 2010 Sage introduced a major revision to their ACT Obsolescence Policy that impacted users of legacy products quite severely, in that they lost their eligibility to "upgrade pricing". In other words, users whose ACT fell outside of the "New + 2" policy (ie., versions older than the current version and the two prior to that), lost their access to upgrade pricing for ACT when purchasing newer versions, forcing them to pay for "full" licensing at 30-40% more,
In 2013, Swiftpage acquired ACT! and they made clear they intended to continue this policy over the objection of many resellers. This is why we're delighted to announce a recent "loophole" or exception to the loss of upgrade eligibility policy. In December 2014 Swiftpage allowed all registered users of obsolete versions of ACT to purchase the new version of ACT at upgrade pricing if they agreed to bundle their purchase with any version of Business Care - Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
As the largest reseller of Business Care in the world, we were quite pleased with this decision because it rewarded customers for making the sensible decision to invest in a subscription that offers terrific value, and the cheapest way to own ACT over time. What's better, if you purchase "Bronze" with your ACT, the savings from paying "upgrade" pricing versus "full" pricing will more than pay for itself.
Here's how the math works:
ACT price with Bronze Business Care | ACT price without Bronze Business Care |
- $327 for Upgrade version of ACT Prem v17 | - $499.95 for Full version of ACT Prem v17 |
- $115 for purchasing Bronze Business Care | - $0 for waiving Bronze Business Care |
- Next version of ACT included Free of charge | - Next version of ACT available at $327 |
Total: $442 | Total: $499.95 |
So in summary, if you own a version of ACT 2012 or older, now you can upgrade to v17 at "upgrade" prices when you bundle Business Care, and receive TWO VERSIONS OF ACT FOR LESS THAN THE PRICE OF ONE.
As for "why" you'd want to upgrade, there are many reasons. If you're finding it difficult to work with newer technology like Windows 8, Office, 2013, and Internet Explorer 10+ because of compatibility issues, OR if you just want to take advantage of the many great new features introduced to ACT over the last few releases, this new policy will allow you to do save big versus paying full price.
