"I sell services, so this quoting product wouldn't work for me!"

This is a common refrain from service business people looking at Link2quotes. It's true, the Link2quotes main layout template is geared more towards product sales, with columns for unit rates, quantities, extended price, etc. And while we've allowed for the customization of columns, so any unneeded ones can be removed, this hasn't helped service people overcome their initial reaction.

For this reason, we've added a new quote layout template designed for people in the services industry. We have removed unit rates & quantities and added a wider service descriptions section that wraps from side to side for more details. Moreover, the top section looks less like a bill of sale, and more like a proposal. The preface section is enabled by default for service providers to spell out any presumptions or project conditions in detail.

In this new quote layout, each section header is shaded and includes the extended price for that section, followed by the more verbose service description. This template still summarizes the totals at the bottom, allowing space for the normal subtotals, sales taxes, deposits, and disclaimers. The terms & conditions section also remains in place.

We will also be adding features in the product details to easily support how the row will be displayed - more as a product or a service. The purpose of this is to support mixed quotes, where one section is service and the other parts.

To access this new layout option, follow these steps:

• from within Link2quotes, go to Settings > Layouts
• Select & Edit an existing layout or create a new one
• click the "Template" tab  and you'll see a new option on the right  (example below)
